Spatial Patterns of China’s Ski Resorts and Their Influencing Factors: A Geographical Detector Study

This study uses geographic information systems (GIS) and geographical detector techniques to explore the national regional pattern of spatial distribution China’s ski resorts, quantitatively identifies main factors that influence their location. Results show although areas are geographically clustered, resorts more likely be located at high latitudes (northeast northwest China) than low (central south China). Among most influential winter sporting mega-events explain 70% location areas; 2022 Winter Olympics accounted for 14%. The contribute depend on regions types resorts. Implications industry, such as different practice hot cold spot future development direction discussed.
